Service Dog Tasks
Opening and Closing Doors
The same behavior chain used to teach your Service Dog to open or close a door can also be used to teach your partner to open doors using a handicap button, push elevator buttons, and work cabinets or drawers.
Retrieving Items
A formal "retrieve" consists of picking up or taking, holding and carrying any object pointed out to the dog until he’s told to release it to the trainer’s hand. This can be useful for those with difficulty getting around or grabbing items with their hands.
Emotional Support
For a dog to become an official emotional support service dog, the animal would need an additional certification which Patriotic canine would be more than happy to train and achieve for you and your pup!
Balance and Mobility
Some handlers utilize assistance devices in addition to their Service Dog, such as crutches, walkers, braces, canes, lifts, wheelchairs or scooters. If you need a dog that has a handle harness or a dog that can handle walking alongside wheelchairs, Patriotic Canine has you covered!
